After almost 14 years, I finally got the stamps from both ends of the island.

Having spent two nights in the Shenandoah National Park, I took a shot that I could get a site on a Sunday night and lucked out. I’d been up there in 2009 but was only able to find accommodations in an RV resort – not really my gig but I didn’t have much choice. I definitely like the northern end but, unfortunately, you’ve got to make reservations at either the National Seashore or Maryland State Park campgrounds well in advance. This time I was able to get a nice site on the bay side of the National Seashore campground. I’ll definitely add this to my list of sites to visit again – preferably on the should seasons when it’s a little less crowded.

On the way home, I drove down the island to Chincoteague, snagged their Passport Stamp, and did a nice hike in the National Wildlife Refuge. There are stamps available for both the refuge and the lighthouse but, at least during this time of the year, the visitor center is only open Thursday through Saturday. Looks like I’ll be back.
